Last night I went to bed a bit earlier than the night before. I work up around the same time but instead of trying to force myself to sleep longer I decided to get up and start my day. One of the huge benefits to this apartment compared to my others is that it's not dark. When the sun comes up it fills my room with light. I thought about getting black out curtains (and I definitely will be for my daughter's room) but I'm actually enjoying waking up to the sun. Getting off topic again! Anyway..... so I got up and started my morning routine. Teyla decided to be a pain right from the start! While I was trying to meditate she decided it was a good idea to sit on my lap. Let's just say it's not very easy to meditate with a cute dog cuddling with you. Next when I was trying to do yoga she decided it was time to play. She is not normally rough or hyper like she was this morning. She was trying to nip at my hands while they were on the floor, then I accidentally kicked her while she was running circles around me. Of course that cause me to stop mid-sequence to check on her. She was fine of course but it totally interrupted the flow. After that she sat on the bed while I finished up. But that wasn't the end of her chaos.
Once we were in the living room I was ready to eat and write this post. Eating went smoothly, Teyla watched quietly out the balcony door. Then when I came over to my computer to start working everyone decided it was time to walk their dog. I'm currently trying to teach Teyla to not freak out every time a dog walks past (she has PTSD and is extremely protective) so I had to stop what I was doing to work with her. Once things seemed to quiet down I totally forgot what I was doing and got distracted on YouTube and Facebook. Needless to say this post is not on time with my schedule.
But this is what this time is for. I wanted to start my new routine before I had to go back to work in order to work out any issues I might run into. I'm sure Teyla will get used to my morning routine too and settle down. Right now mommy doing weird things in the morning I think is stressing her out. I also need to make sure that I prioritize what I want to get done. For me that means delaying posting if Teyla needs to be working on training. That is my top priority right now so that needs to come first. Fingers crossed tomorrow goes a little smoother....
